In 2015 SOGAT began with its first Technical Tour of GASCO’s Habshan V facilities which occupied the first day and was a great success for those participating. At the same time 4 workshops commenced on Gas Compressors, Amine Treating, Contamination Management and Sour Gas Treatment to Sulphur Loading which again were all well received. The SOGAT Conference was opened by Mr. Saif Alghafli, CEO of Al Hosn Gas one of the primary

This was followed by 25 technical presentations over the 3 days which together with the many networking opportunities allowed all to not only debate the latest global technology advancements but also exchange views with the 35 exhibitors during this period. Some 420 participants were involved in SOGAT 2015 which continued its reputation of being the world’s leading meeting place for all involved in sour hydrocarbon conditioning.

For 2016 at a time when the industry was experiencing difficult times the impact was marginally felt by SOGAT as the overall attendance fell by over 20 %. Despite the competition from the Middle East Sulphur Forum that preceded SOGAT 2017 by some six weeks the take up and feedback from the SOGAT workshops and Conferrence programme was extremely positive as usual and over 350 people participated in SOGAT 2017 as a whole. On the other hand the SOGAT exhibition was impacted with the number of exhibitors and visitors somewhat reduced. These factors have been accounted for in planning SOGAT 2018.
